Kovakka Thoran with Coconut – Kerala Style Kovakka Thoran
1) Kovakka (split lengthwise into 4 long pieces) – 1 cup
2) Green Chilly – 4 small ones chopped
3) Red Pearl Onion – 5 sliced
4) Grated coconut – 1/4 cup
5) Curry leaves – 1 sprig
6) Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
7) Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
8) Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
9) Salt
Heat some oil and splutter mustard seeds.
Add turmeric powder.Coarsely ground coconut and green chilly.
Once the raw smell of turmeric is gone, add sliced kovakka, sliced pearl onion, curry leaves, ground coconut and mix well and cook covered adding salt.
Add water if required.
Cook till kovakka is cooked and all water evaporates.
